贴对联用英语怎么说怎写
"对联" in Chinese is called "couplet" in English. A couplet is a pair of lines of poetry that rhyme and have the same meter.
Couplets have a long history in Chinese literature, and are often used during traditional festivals such as the Chinese New Year, to express good wishes for the coming year. A traditional Chinese couplet consists of two lines written on either side of a door or gate, and they usually express a contrast or complement each other.
For example:
Upper Line (Heaven): 吉星高照 (Good fortune shines bright)
Lower Line (Earth): 人来富贵 (People come in wealth and nobility)
Translation: When good fortune shines bright, people will come in wealth and nobility.
In English, couplets are also commonly used in poetry, for example:
"When I consider how my light is spent,
Ere half my days in this dark world and wide."
This is a famous couplet from the poem "On His Blindness" by John Milton.
