On March 31, 1815, a judge of the United States District Court of thecity of New Orleans fined (罚款) Jackson $1,000 for contempt(轻视) because he had declared martiallaw(宣布军管) during his defense.Twenty - nine years later, on Jan. 8, 1844, the House of Representativesdecided to return the money to Jackson with interest at 6%.
