How can the writing skills of secondary level students, in a large class, be developed?

I would divide the class into groups of 5 or 6 students and give them different topics with a list of words they must use when writing a paragraph or a composition(depends on their level)．Then, ask each group to present in front of the others．They like and feel important because they can also ask about their classmates' opinions．

For practice as well as to save time, give the students homework for the improvement of writing．Tell them any story and tell them they will have to write for tomorrow what they just heard, or show them any movie and tell them the same thing．It became a more beneficial for me really when I adopted this method here in Pakistan．Thanks．
