Jane Goodall, born on April 3, 1943, is a British ethnologist. According to her research, chimpanzees are omnivorous animals which can not only make and process tools but also have complex social behaviors. Besides the research on chimpanzees, she has set up the Jane Goodall Institute, aiming to protect animals and improve the welfare and environment for animals. Due to her efforts, people have paid more attention to the wildlife research as well as the protection of the chimpanzees. And because of her great contributions to the research on chimpanzees and their protection, Jane Goodall was awarded Messenger of Peace in 2002 by the United Nations.
