The one-child policy has been adopted in China. And it does benefit not only the society but also individuals.  With a better control of the population, the country has made remarkable achievements in the aspects of economic and social development while the family can focus on the only child and afford better education for him.

However, it still brings about a series of problems. As the center attention of families, the only children are easily spoiled by their parents and grandparents. Therefore, they are often selfish and lacking in independence.

As the only child in my family, I think it’s important for us to cultivate our independence and develop a strong sense of responsibility since we are the future of our country. We can share some housework with our parents and should keep it in mind that it’s better to give than to receive.
